I was born with Cerebral Palsy. It causes me to walk a bit irregular and limits my balance. I've had a couple corrective surgeries to limit spasticity. The earliest of them being done when I was 4 years old.
Later on in life I realized that despite having limitations I could still exercise and lift weights. When I turned 29 I decided to run a marathon, which is 26.2 miles. I trained for 3 months, running 4 times a week and entered the equinox marathon in Fairbanks Alaska. It took me roughly 14hrs to finish it. I then proceeded to finish 2 other marathons (Honolulu & L.A.) before throwing in the towel.
But now at 38, I am facing a new struggle that I thought was not possible. I am in need of a total hip replacement on my left side. It's a bit scary thinking about having this foreign object being put into my body. In the long run it will help me regain some of my independence (standing for longer periods pain free).Â
I've started a fund for my upcoming hip replacement surgery. For anyone who feels inclined or is able to contribute, your support would mean the world to me as I work toward getting back on my feet. Thank you so much for your kindness and for being part of my recovery journey!
